TIM HORMES
Class of 1990
Lacrosse
Tim Hormes matriculated to Washington College from Calvert Hall
High School in Baltimore, Maryland, in 1986. His high school athletic
participation included three years of varsity lacrosse and two years
in varsity football.
Tim came highly recommended as an offensive player, and the scoring
records he established at Washington College place him among the
top shooters of the past half century. His individual scoring statistics
include 41 goal and 8 assists in 1987, 49 goals and 20 assists in
1988, 55 goals and 23 assists in 1989, and 50 goals and 10 assists
in 1990. Among all the Washington College lacrosse stars of modern
history, these totals place him second behind John Cheek in goals
scored and third behind Greg Lane and John Cheek in total points.
His 55 goals in one season also place him third in this category
behind John Cheek and Ray Wood. Each of his lacrosse teams accumulated
a winning record, with a total 45 victories and only 19 losses.
And each was selected to participate in NCAA Division III post-season
play. Tim was honored by the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse
Association as a Division III First Team All-American in his junior
and senior years. In 1990,he also was selected as the outstanding
attackman in Division III lacrosse, and represented Washington College
in the annual North/South All Star Game. A fine student, Tim also
was an Academic All-American.
After graduation, Tim played professional indoor lacrosse for ten
years— three years with Pittsburgh and seven with Baltimore.
In 1996 he was designated the Most Valuable Player for the Baltimore
Thunder and in 1997 received the Thunder's Unsung Hero Award.
Washington College considers it an honor and privilege to induct
Tim Hormes into the Washington College Athletic Hall of Fame on
this fourth day of October, 2003.
